Today's Scriptures

1 Sam 17
Psalm 9
Matt 2

1 Samuel 17 was the scripture I chose. David was a boy, of little consideration to others. However, when David came before Saul he told him how he had defended the flock he attended to and slayed a Lion and a Bear. 2 things came to mind when he said that:

1) God gave him an opportunity to gain experience in a seemingly hopeless confrontation (producing confidence).

2) David trusted God and knew he would have the victory over his enemies.

It made me think of the times in my life where I wasn't considered for something that I later excelled at. When God places a fire in your heart to pursue something, regardless of opposition or report, it's time to get to work! When confronted with intimidation and rejection, will I continue to pursue those things I know God is for? Another part of the chapter that brought illumination was 1 Sam 17:39. David couldn't go into battle with armour he had "not proved" yet. David spoke with confidence because he knew God and trusted him and he was victorious.

Today, I pray to trust God and not to be intimidated by what a situation looks like. No matter how big the opposition is, it isn't bigger or more powerful than God. If God be for us, who can be against us?

Courage isn't battling without fear...it's continuing despite it.

Todays Scriptures

1 Sam 8, 9 &10

2 Cor 10

While reading 1 Sam. Rebellion stuck out most to me. The peoples rejection of God ruling over their lives, and their desire to be like every other nation really hit me hard. I can relate to that as well as being hidden among the stuff.

1 Cor. was also eye opening. Casting down imaginations is vital, but not so easy when you endulge them for a second. They grow roots fast and when that happens it becomes difficult to uproot them. The warning to not compare ourseves to others, but to let Christ/God be our standard at all times.

I pray today for the ability to see distractions from Gods purpose for my life. To accept the fact that he has created me uncommon and in that is beauty. To discover those hidden things, giftings, and lessons he has entrusted me with so far. To compare myself with the standard of what the Word of God says I should be and to be thankful for every step in the process toward his perfection of me.
